In collaboration with SLR Consulting, we have been commissioned to design & build a series of bespoke bothy shelters for West Pilton Park - part of a regeneration project reimagining the park as a biodiverse and inclusive public space, led by Edinburgh & Lothians Green Space Trust and the City of Edinburgh Council.
The shelters pair corrugated steel with Scottish larch, referencing traditional bothies while embracing a bold, contemporary design. Cleverly engineered, the first design is playfully perched on a large boulder at one end and is floating at the other, with an open wall framing a view of the park.
Several variations of the bothy-shelter will follow as the park continues to evolve.
